Coast
to Coast year 2000 Compliance Statement
NOTICE
IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE YEAR 2000 INFORMATION AND
READINESS DISCLOSURE ACT, THE FOLLOWING IS DESIGNATED A YEAR 2000 READINESS
DISCLOSURE.
The purpose of this statement is to reassure you of Coast to Coast's
commitment of service to you now and into the 21st century. As you know,
there has been much publicity about the potential for problems as we approach
and succeed the Year 2000. Many of these problems exist because certain
computer programs and systems use only the last two digits when translating
date information.
Coast to Coast is taking active steps to address the Year 2000 compliance
of its systems and to avoid any interruption of your regular business
operations. With this said, a formal Year 2000 Project team has been developed
to coordinate and implement a year 2000 plan for the company.
This means that our products, with applicable corrective patches or other
similar modifications installed, when used in accordance with its associated
documentation, will accurately process date/time data (including, but
not limited to, calculating, comparing, and sequencing) from, into, and
between the twentieth and twenty-first centuries, and the years 1999 and
2000 and leap year calculations, provided that all other products (e.g.
hardware, software and firmware) used in combination with our products
properly exchange date/time data with it.
Our Year 2000 project plan consists of five primary steps 1) Inventory
of potentially date-sensitive software including third party vendors;
2) Assessment of all hardware and software; 3) Replace, repair or retire
all non-compliant systems; 4) Testing of all systems and 5) Implementation
of any new or corrected systems.
Currently, we have compiled a complete inventory list and have contacted
all third party vendors. The target date for completion of the Year 2000
project is December 31, 1999. All testing of date sensitive applications
will be complete no later than October 31, 1999. Various factors, including
third party vendor's compliance and other considerations, could impact
these target dates.

Our internal computer systems for customer care, provisioning and billing
is Microsoft based, all purchased within the last year. Our current hardware
platform is Intel Pentium II and III also acquired within the last two
years. For more information on Microsoft Y2K compliance you may access
their website at www.microsoft.com/year2000.
We have purchased, installed and are using several third party Y2K inventory
and analysis software. Siemens, our central office switch provider has
assured us that its product will be Year 2000 compliant. You may visit
their website at www.icn.siemens.com.
We are of course wholly dependent on Ameritech's network being Y2K compliant
because it is their lines our customers originate calls from. You can
read their status at www.ameritech.com/y2k/letter.html.
We utilize three off net long distance carriers for calls that originate
or terminate outside of Michigan and they in turn rely on over 1400 local
telephone companies for their local lines and often times, local switches.
Therefore it is likely that some of these calls may not connect to the
called party, regardless of who your local or long distance carrier may
be.
Primary power is provided by Detroit Edison who also can be reached at
their website for Y2K compliance; www.dteenergy.com/aboutdte/whoweare/y2k.html.
In the event of failure of their network, our switch facility is backed
up by two natural gas generators with a third to be installed before Jan
1, 2000.
In closing, Coast to Coast is committed to providing you the same high
quality service you have come to expect now and into the next century.
Please browse our website at www.
for more information on Y2K compliance as well as our products and services
offerings.
